OTHER COLORS shows & album preview! ***

"Future folk-rock" phenom Other Colors just posted a few rough mixes from their forthcoming album, as well as announced some Baltimore-area shows over at the myspace. From a cursory listen, it sounds like it'll be a doozy, with plenty of fractured, droney pop and fuzzy instrumental action to go around.

Check it out, and look out for their debut CD from GenPop later in August.

Baltimore's favorite bizarro pop band finally commit their best songs to vinyl. The album consists of two distinct sides: "Paperwork" was recorded with members of Quiet Hooves in Athens, GA in Summer 2009, and "Birdwork" with Chris Freeland (Oxes) outside Baltimore in January 2010.

Like the rapid nature of these songs, this 12-inch LP spins at a quick 45 rpm, and also comes with a free digital download. Limited to a slim 350 copies.

We’re really excited about how this thing turned out… won’t be officially released for another two weeks, but pre-order it from us right now…

- ELEPHANT MICAH live clips -

Our longtime pal Joe in Elephant Micah just completed an extensive U.S. tour this spring. In case you missed out, here are some choice clips from that excursion.

When you're done watching, check out the Elephant Micah site and buy a record or two. The guy recently piled a few more worthwhile releases onto an already massive discography you'd be wise to check out.

Sensational guitar noise from JASON HENN

Our pal Jason Henn has been conducting noisy recording experiments since his pre-teens. Here's the latest transmission from his unique sound world...

This untitled track comes to us from a self-released 7" lathe cut by Mr. Henn, to be packaged with a bunch of full-color cardstock inserts and limited to some unholy small number.

Titled simply Farm/Closet, and allegedly recorded entirely on treated guitars in the upstairs closet of a farm house in Indiana, Henn manages to conjure a mess of extraterrestrial sounds that evoke the image of neither farms nor closets. The full session, not including edits unique to this lathe cut, is being issued sometime soon as a CDR on Third Uncle.

SUNSHINE SEASON brings us summer jams to beat the winter blues

So our favorite secret psych band of the moment (Sunshine Season) graced us recently with two delicious slabs of distorted instrumental glee, which I'll share here.

Murky drone, broken fuzz and mysterious shouts abound, further adding to the mystery of this enigmatic outfit...

JUNKERS- 7-inch EP (GEN-002) - March 2010
Philly/Bmore band emerges to... "mine the pebbles, graves, and rubble of the sixties through a contemporary lens. In their basement-sullied hands, the hissy, lost masters, straight from VG- 45 to digital sound of the great, lost man-boy groups of that decade becomes fun, exciting trash rock."

OTHER COLORS- Other Colors LP/cdr (GEN-003)
